This page will feature the Kid-oriented activities. It will probably be a lot more graphics-intensive--kids like pictures! It should have things like
- Neat facts about the moon
- Neat facts about the rest of the solar system
- Moon/Space themed games
- Activity suggestions - observation tips, planetariums, etc
After our lectures on Friday on Space Art and Space and Society, I've gone back and added some links to this page. Our Space Arts lecturer had some great links in his presentation, so I have added all of these to our links bar at the righthand side of the screen.
Our ESA Education and Outreach professor didn't have as many good links, but I have added the few that he did mention to the links list at right.
Now, I need to work on the "Lunar Dreams" section of the webpage. Any help y'all want to give me would be great, as I think a lot of this will be original material. Some names of people/projects jumped out at me that should definitely be included (in no particular order):
- von Braun,
- Tsiolkovsky,
- Verne,
- Cyrano de Bergerac,
- Baron Munchausen,
- Moon Mythologies of ALL cultures, Music (Sinatra's song, of course!),
- John F. Kennedy,
- Alan Bean's art, G.w. Bush,any Chinese announcements,Heinlein,Clarke,Asimov.
After that, I want to work on a section about "How can I get involved". A big part of that is going to be lunar missions that are either quite cheap, or are run by students. Among those are the project we heard about in Stuttgart (I have emailed them looking for more information) as well as the LunarSat program that our classmate Elias used to work on. Maybe also the Clementine mission, which was relatively cheap.
